Minute.
In laying before this Council the Governor, the Surveyor General's proposed expenditure on Works, Buildings, &c. previous to revising and including it in the Colonial Estimates for 1860, I think it well to offer the following explanation of the large sum on which the outlay is contemplated.
2. First as to the Gaol, reference to the Visiting Justices Book will show that as far back as I think April, 1855
